The Dragons of Eden: This book tries to be about the origin of human intelligence but it feels very, very dated today. I could list many factual things wrong: This is coupled with the supposition that reptiles don’t seem to dream or have REM sleep. But the too many mentions of “lesions” all through the book have a feel bad effect, as he never tells us lesions are not as painful as they sound, and he seems too eager on the science to realise he is being yukky. It takes confidence and a willingness to take criticism and the harsh judgement of history, to produce such a work.
