Wiley, it turns out, really believes he’s had this strange encounter, despite the scoffings of psychiatrists and much more gently even of his own wife. It is worth to be noted that he gained an enormous and very hard to be explained popularity in Poland, which was followed by many editions as well as meetings and, eventually, some works prepared and edited only in Polish.

Ascoyne vurbo it liked it Aug 30, Franky finds children, by far, much more pleasant and intelligent than most adults, but they are easily ruined by their families, schools, and society.

Jul 05, Calahtenney rated it it was amazing. For William, the experience is indisputably true but when he discovers later that neither his wife nor children believe in Franky, he endures a crisis of frranky and searches desperately for the truth.


I loved the ending and felt it was really well done.

Obviously the plot is something completely fiction, the dialogue is cheesy, starting with “Catherine my dearest, I need you to believe in Valerie rated it it was amazing Oct 25, Kim Serene rated it liked it Mar 21, I don’t get it – this book has received some really good reviews telling how life changing this read was. I can’t believe the man who wrote the wonderful novels Birdy and A Midnight Clear could write such a convoluted, contrived, just-plain-silly fantasy novel.

Want to Read saving…. Birdy by William Wharton! Magda added it Apr 08, It could be a masterpiece and you could love it if you consider the way the author managed to implement a story inside a story and make it furbp perfectly logical yet magical and unpredictable to the very end.

It is hard to find, and took me several years to get a good copy, but I read it in one night, and found myself enjoying it. I’m still not really sure if I loved it or didn’t like it. I was captivated and read it all on a plane, but it is absolutely one of the weirdest books I’ve ever read.
