The Elder Gods
So the Elder Gods go out to recruit mercenaries from other lands and thus the beginnings of an epic is born. There were some elements of humour, but there was a lot of repetition in the book. I mean, I can understand a chapter or two but the entire book’s dialog is just plain horrible. However, as the fort was finished and the domain of Zelana was seemingly impregnable, the Vlagh’s servants revealed their clever trick.

The gratitutous usage of the word ‘on’ directly after verbs was just plain irksome; again, sloppy and distracted me in my annoyance. All the characters are ones that you already know, because they are from his other books not literally, but the character base is the same, to where this one guy is exactly like that other guy in that one series.
The characters had the same personality throughout most of the series, being almost indistinguishable through books 2 and 3.
The book is full of weird plot holes. I was hoping this book might be similar but I was disappointed. Most of Vlagh’s creations are vaguely insect-like, venomous and violent, although some creatures have been bred human-like enough to pass as humans and are exdings as spies.

The pace of the build-up to the battle was much too slow for my taste, and the battle itself left a lot to be desired, especially once gofs volcano erupted; it just felt so anti-climactic to spend eedings pages preparing for a battle, only to have it upstaged by divine intervention.
